In bulk fuel terminals, oil depots, and large-scale fuel transfer operations, measuring equipment must do more than simply record volume. It must operate accurately, safely, and continuously under large flow and heavy-duty conditions. The M-150 Series Large Flow Positive Displacement Flow Meter System is developed specifically for these demanding environments.

This series is based on a proven positive displacement measuring principle, where liquid is measured in fixed internal volumes rather than calculated by velocity. As a result, measurement accuracy remains stable even during large flow transfer or fluctuating operating conditions. In global markets, this type of product is commonly known as a Large Flow Positive Displacement Meter in Europe and North America, a Bulk Fuel Meter in the Middle East and Africa, and a Oil Depot Flow Meter or Diesel Loading Meter in Southeast Asia and Latin America.

The M-150-A-1 model is engineered for large throughput applications, making it suitable for fast transfer between storage tanks and tanker trucks. It is widely used in bulk fuel handling, refined oil distribution centers, and industrial fuel supply systems, where reliability under large flow operation is essential.

Practical experience in international projects shows that large flow metering systems require effective inlet protection. For this reason, the meter is often installed together with the GLQ-150 Strainer with Air Eliminator, forming a complete metering solution. In many engineering specifications, such combinations are referred to as a Fuel Metering Skid or a Bulk Transfer Metering System.

The strainer does not function as a fine system filter, but as critical protection for the meter itself. During pipeline commissioning or continuous operation, welding residue, scale, or foreign particles may enter the flow stream. Installing a dedicated strainer upstream of the meter helps prevent internal damage, reduce downtime, and extend service life. This is why, even when a pump strainer is present, a separate meter strainer is still recommended in professional fuel systems.

The GLQ-150 strainer features a reinforced dual-layer screen design, where the outer layer provides structural support and the inner mesh captures contaminants. The integrated air eliminator reduces entrained air in the liquid, helping to maintain consistent measurement accuracy. In industry terminology, this unit is often called a Meter Protection Strainer or a Fuel Meter Air Eliminator.

From an application standpoint, the Large Flow PD Meter System is suitable for measuring diesel, gasoline, fuel oil, and other refined petroleum products. In North America and Europe, it is commonly used for bulk custody transfer in oil depots. In the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia, it is widely applied in tanker loading and fuel redistribution projects.

The Purpose of Strainers
Strainers help to protect meters from serious damage caused by burrs dislodged from new piping, pipe scale or foreign material. The initial cost of the strainer is good insurance against the cost of downtime and replacement parts incurred from a damaged meter. A meter strainer installed on the inlet side is necessary even when a coarse strainer on the upstream side of the pump is included in the system. Strainers are not meant to be used as a system filter but as limited protection for the meter element itself.

How Strainers Work
As the liquid product enters the strainer housing from the supply line, it is routed through the strainer basket. The strainer basket is a two-ply screen. The inner screen is made of a fine mesh of either 20, 40, 80, 100, or 200 squares per inch. The outer screen works as a backing. It gives reinforcement and support to the fine mesh inner screen.
