High-Pressure Differential Valve for LPG Metering Systems

High-Pressure Differential Valve for LPG Metering Systems

In high-vapor-pressure liquid systems such as LPG or anhydrous ammonia, precise control of liquid flow is essential for both safety and accurate metering. The V-50-LPG Differential Valve is designed to automatically halt fluid flow whenever vapor is detected, ensuring that the product remains in its liquid state throughout the measurement process. This spring-loaded valve is engineered to fail closed, providing an additional safety layer in high-pressure environments.

Installed directly on the meter outlet, the V-50-LPG valve connects to a vapor eliminator mounted on the meter. This configuration allows the system to maintain adequate pressure to prevent vapor formation, which is particularly critical when handling LPG or NH₃, where vapor expansion can lead to inaccurate readings or safety hazards. The valve’s robust aluminum construction ensures durability while allowing flow rates up to 760 LPM at working pressures of up to 25 bar (350 Psi).

Globally, this valve is recognized under several names depending on the market. In North America and Europe, it is often referred to as a Meter Differential Cut-Off Valve. In the Middle East, operators commonly call it a Vapor-Sensing Flow Stop Valve, while in Southeast Asia and Latin America, it is sometimes known as an LPG Meter Vapor Guard Valve. Regardless of the terminology, the function remains consistent: precise flow control that prevents vapor from entering the metering system.

The V-50-LPG valve integrates seamlessly with 2” LPG meters and optional printer systems, allowing operators to maintain accurate records while ensuring operational safety. Proper installation and pressure management are essential; all internal pressures must be relieved before maintenance or disassembly, and all lines between the meter and supply or discharge sources should be closed to prevent accidental release of high-pressure liquids.

For industrial operators, the V-50-LPG Differential Valve provides a reliable solution for maintaining liquid integrity in high-vapor-pressure systems. Its fail-safe design, compatibility with LPG metering, and global recognition make it an indispensable component for fuel terminals, bulk LPG distribution, chemical plants, and other high-pressure liquid handling applications.

General Information

The differential valve—mounted on the meter outlet and connected at the valve bonnet to the vapor eliminator on the meter—functions to stop liquid flow whenever vapor is present in the system. The valve maintains sufficient pressure to ensure that high-vapor-pressure products such as LPG or anhydrous ammonia (NH₃) always remain in the liquid state. The valve is spring-loaded and designed to fail closed.
