The V-XX Series features mechanically actuated pistons that are designed to mount directly on the meter outlet. This flexibility allows operators to fine-tune system performance according to specific process requirements, ensuring that each shut-off is controlled, predictable, and safe.

A key design feature of the V-XX Series is the pressure-balanced dash pot mechanism. By directing vector forces at right angles to the valve opening mechanism, the system achieves effortless operation regardless of line pressure. This ensures a soft, precise closure without opposing forces, improving the longevity of both the valve and the connected meter system. The valves can be indexed in 90° increments, offering versatility for up, down, or side-facing outlets in diverse piping configurations.

Globally, these valves are recognized under several names depending on the market. In North America and Europe, they are often called Preset Piston Shut-Off Valves. In Southeast Asia and the Middle East, operators may refer to them as Meter Outlet Control Valves, while in Latin America and Africa, the term Flow-Regulated Piston Valve is commonly used. Regardless of the terminology, the function is consistent: smooth, accurate, and reliable flow control for positive displacement meter systems.

The V-XX Series is available in aluminum with square flange options and covers multiple flow ranges: V-50-AL supports up to 550 LPM for M-40 (1.5”) and M-50 (2”) meters, V-80-AL supports up to 1150 LPM for M-80 (3”) meters, and V-100-AL supports up to 1700 LPM for M-100 (4”) meters. Its robust design makes it suitable for fuel terminals, oil depots, chemical plants, and bulk liquid distribution systems worldwide.

General Information

V-XX Series of Preset Piston Valves are designed for a wide range of applications and flow rates and have minimum pressure loss. Careful engineering and construction ensure smooth, accurate, and controlled operation. The V-XX Series of Preset Piston Valves, mechanically-actuated piston valves, are available in 2”, 3” & 4” sizes, and are designed for mounting on the meter outlet to provide tight shut-off with smooth and easy operation regardless of system line pressure. The valves may be manually operated or connected via a mechanical linkage to a preset counter on the meter for single-stage closure (for low flow applications) or two-stage closure with a dwell period to eliminate hydraulic shock. The valves are indexable in 90º increments for up, down, or side facing outlet. They offer the important advantage of a pressure-balanced dash pot design that ensures precise valve response and soft closure at shut-off. Operation is smooth and easy regardless of the line pressure, since the vector forces are directed at right angles to the valve opening mechanism and are never in opposition to it. Depending on the preset, the valve may be operated as either a two-stage valve with dwell period shut-off, or as a single-stage valve with abrupt shut-off. Single-stage valves are recommended when the application flow rates are low.

Before disassembly of any meter or accessory component, ALL INTERNAL PRESSURES MUST BE RELIEVED. Pressure must be 0 (zero) psi. Close all liquid and vapor lines between the meter and liquid or gas pressure source (such as the supply tank, discharge lines, and supply lines).
