Lightweight Vacuum & Pressure Relief Valve for Portable Fueling Stations
In portable fueling stations and small above-ground fuel storage systems, internal tank pressure is constantly affected by fuel dispensing, refilling operations, and ambient temperature changes. Without a reliable pressure balancing device, storage tanks may be exposed to structural stress, vapor leakage, or safety risks.
The HBPV-40 Series Vacuum Pressure Relief Valve is designed to provide dependable pressure regulation for these compact fuel storage applications.
Across different regions, this type of valve is known by various industry names. In North America and Europe, it is commonly referred to as a Vacuum Pressure Vent Valve, Tank Breather Valve, or Pressure Relief Valve for Fuel Tanks. In Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, it may also be called a Tank Breathing Valve, Oil Tank Pressure Balancing Valve, or Fuel Storage Safety Vent. Despite the different names, all serve the same essential function—maintaining safe pressure equilibrium inside fuel tanks.
The HBPV-40 Series is primarily used on above-ground oil tanks in portable gas stations, temporary fueling units, and small fuel depots. It features a compact internal design that integrates both a pressure relief valve and a vacuum relief valve into a single unit. Under normal operating conditions, the valve remains tightly sealed, helping to reduce vapor loss and environmental exposure.
When internal vapor pressure rises beyond the preset positive limit, the pressure relief mechanism opens automatically to release excess vapor, while the vacuum side remains closed. Conversely, when negative pressure develops inside the tank, the vacuum relief mechanism allows fresh air to enter, preventing tank deformation caused by excessive vacuum. This automatic dual-function operation ensures consistent pressure stability without manual intervention.
To meet the requirements of different markets, the HBPV-40 Series supports multiple pressure settings. For international applications, the standard positive opening pressure is +3 inches of water column (+750 Pa), while the commonly used Chinese domestic standard is +9 inches of water column (+3000 Pa). The negative pressure opening is set at -8 inches of water column (-2000 Pa). Custom pressure configurations are also available upon request.
Constructed with a cast aluminum alloy body and cap, the valve offers a lightweight yet durable structure suitable for long-term outdoor use. Internal stainless steel springs ensure responsive operation and long service life. The valve is designed to operate reliably within a temperature range of -20°C to +50°C, making it suitable for various climate conditions.
For installation flexibility, the HBPV-40 Series is available with 1.5 inch and 2 inch female NPT or BSP threaded connections, as well as optional flange-mounted versions. Flange standards can be customized to match specific project or regional requirements, allowing easy integration into existing tank vent piping systems.
Overall, the HBPV-40 Series Vacuum Pressure Relief Valve provides a practical and cost-effective safety solution for portable fueling stations and small above-ground fuel tanks. By combining pressure protection, vapor control, and durable construction, it helps operators improve tank safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
